The Slovenian Society for Medical and Biological Engineering (DMBTS) is an interdisciplinary science-expert organization which follows, develops and informs the public about new technologies and engineering techniques in medicine and biology in Slovenia and follows the development in foreign countries. The goals and tasks of DMBTS are to accelerate the development of science and technologies, follow, study and aid in the development and application of the biomedical engineering in Slovenia and abroad, cooperate by the educational programs for biomedical engineers and technicians, cooperate by the coordination of medical with technical and other experts, and cooperate with similar national and international organizations, societies, institutions and companies that are interested in goals and tasks of DMBTS.

The International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) is a federation of national and transnational societies that represent interests in medical and biological engineering. Its objectives are scientific and technological as well as educational and literary. Within the field of medical, biological and clinical engineering, IFMBE’s aims are to encourage research and application of knowledge, and to disseminate information and promote collaboration. IFMBE is also a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) for the United Nations and the World Health Organization (WHO), and joins the International Organization for Medical Physics (IOMP) in a Union called the International Union for Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine (IUPESM).
